What is GIS for?
A GIS system, or Geographic Information System, allows you to make decisions based on accurate information that can be clearly visualized on a map.
With a GIS system, it is possible to explore a specific area or region and extract data from it. For example, if we want to check the block and parcel of our home, we can activate the relevant layers and see block and parcel numbers graphically on a map.
Throughout the operation of the system, it needs to be continuously updated. After the setup and implementation of GIS, it works in two directions: inward and outward:
- Inward data: organizing information into new layers and updating existing layers.
- Outward data: retrieving data and analyzing geographic information.
